Jane had suggested I brighten the light at the back. To make the streak of light in the back stand out enough I had to darken the whole foreground and reduce the contrast of the front shadow and the highlights on the trail. I think this photo actually looks darker than it really is. I'm beginning to think I should have done two paintings of the same scene, each with a different focus. Sunday, February 7, 2010
Okay, Jane - another change....
Jane had suggested I brighten the light at the back. To make the streak of light in the back stand out enough I had to darken the whole foreground and reduce the contrast of the front shadow and the highlights on the trail. I think this photo actually looks darker than it really is. I'm beginning to think I should have done two paintings of the same scene, each with a different focus.

I really like the light at the back! It adds a mysterious magical quality, I think.
I think that both of the last ones are beautiful in their own way.
